The Knotty Collection
How it all began ...
When I first started learning how to crochet from scratch back in April 2023, I did not know about different yarn types, had never picked up a crochet hook, thought patterns looked like a completely different language and had no idea what the different crochet terms meant.I was inspired to learn crocheting after joining the "Beginners Amigurumi" group on Facebook and seeing all the super cute crochet items that fellow members were creating. I too really wanted to make amigurumi, but did not know where to start. It took me two days of re-watching tutorial videos before I learnt enough basic crochet terms (mainly, single crochet and increases/deceases) to read patterns and many (somewhat frustrating) hours before I finally learnt to make a magic circle.
Since then, I've been hooked!!! 😍
I never thought I would create The Knotty Collection but what started off as a single heart amigurumi has now evolved into an ever-growing collection of more than 35 different knotties (yes, I think that's what I'm going to call my crocheted items from now on 😜) that were handmade with love. All of the knotties I've created thus far have either become part of my core collection (i.e. I get to keep them!) or have gone to new homes as they were specially created as gifts for people I love.
I decided to start this blog as I wanted to document my journey and consolidate all the things I have learnt along the way including resources, tips and tricks that will hopefully also be helpful to others. I also wanted this blog to be an avenue for me to be creative and share the backstory about each of the knotties I have created or will create over time as part of The Knotty Collection.
I can't wait to share more soon!
